Envue is continuing its active support for the Scottish
Nature Photography Awards to help the competition build on a
highly successful inaugural year.
The company is providing two-fold sponsorship for the 2011
awards, which has seen a significant increase in entries over
last year's contest and again attracted international interest.
Envue supported the awards when they were launched in 2010 and
this time round is again sponsoring the personalised engraved
glass awards for category winners and the publication of the
Portfolio Yearbook.
Managing Director Stephen Lancaster says: "The entries last year
were of the highest quality, demonstrating not only the talent
and dedication of the participants but also the unparalled
beauty of the subject matter: Scotland's natural environment and
wildlife.
"This is an exciting, inspirational initiative that we believe
will go from strength to strength and we're delighted to be part
of it. We look forward to next March
when the 2011 winners are announced and the entries are
showcased to the wider public."
The 2011 competition will award the title of Scottish Nature
Photographer of the Year through the categories Scottish
wildlife, Scottish landscape, Scottish botanical, natural
abstract and environmental.
For emerging photographic talent, this year saw the introduction
of categories for Student Scottish Nature Photographer of the
Year and Junior Scottish Nature Photographer of the Year.
Entries closed on November 30 and awards organiser Niall Irvine
says: “Our ambition is to provide a platform for celebrating the
excellence of nature photography in Scotland. The entries to our
inaugural competition in 2010 certainly reflected that.
“Following the success of the 2010 awards, we've experienced a
real surge of interest from around the world. This has been
reflected in both the number of entries to this year’s
competition and people following the awards online. The
six-month touring exhibition of the 2010 entries attracted good
visitor numbers and feedback, and culminated in a week-long
display at the Scottish Parliament.
“The Portfolio Yearbook, which features the winning and
shortlisted photographs, is a key element in making the awards
accessible to people who may or may not be photographers
themselves, but who can admire the subject matter and the skill
of the photographers who have created these images.
"Envue’s sponsorship of the Portfolio Yearbook 2011 will ensure
that we can continue to try to inspire people to appreciate the
wealth and diversity of Scotland’s nature and perhaps give
photography a try.”
